Travel With Gallagher

International Insurance Solutions
For over 30 years, Gallagher Charitable International Insurance Services (GCIIS) has served mission sending organizations, educational institutions and humanitarian relief organizations who have a need for international insurance coverage. We provide coverages for both individual and group protection. Our GCIIS team includes not only the coverage offering but also underwriting and claims support 24/7 including crisis situations.  Our specialized GCIIS team brings consultative insight to any situation where you have short term and longer term staff and volunteers heading abroad!

Why have international insurance?
The sending organization will have the assurance that individuals and groups traveling have appropriate coverage. Accidents happen during overseas travel and your organization needs an insurance program that protects against the steep costs of an emergency evacuation or a lawsuit emanating from the actions of one of your trip participants. This ensures that there will not be a catastrophic claim without financial protection.

Insurance programs include:

  • Travel insurance
  • Trip cancellation & interruption
  • Individual & group health insurance
  • Group self-funded medical programs
  • Individual life
  • Crisis insurance coverage
  • International personal property
  • Foreign general liability
  • International medical malpractice
  • Directors & Officers liability
  • Expatriate prescription services

Overview
At Gallagher, we have experts with years of experience designing pools and cooperatives for nonprofit organizations. You are uniquely situated to take pursue this kind of alternative to traditional insurance, whether you are big enough alone or want to extend your partnership to like-minded nonprofits as a group.. In the case of a group of nonprofits, an insurance pool or cooperative is a multiple-member, risk-sharing arrangement where other nonprofit organizations pool their funds together to finance an exposure, liability risk or some combination of the three. Rather than purchasing insurance, employee benefits and risk management services through traditional insurance providers, pools and cooperatives share funds to procure those solutions themselves. The premise is that retaining expected losses can be more cost-effective if retained in a protected self-insurance vehicle.  The language often changes from ‘carriers’ to ‘reinsurers’.  We have some great examples of nonprofits that have ventured this way and the outcomes are impressive.

What are the benefits of insurance pools | cooperatives | captives | trusts | RRGs?

  • Pricing stability: history has proven that the long term impact is truly one of predictability of costs.
  • Stronger Program: Pools can purchase higher limits of insurance at a lower cost and manuscript coverages.
  • Leverage: The power of group purchasing creates broader coverage and more favorable terms for members, especially as Gallagher engages its underwriting and actuarial teams in the ‘construction’ of the program (rates, allocations).
  • Customization: This overarching facet of our member-driven services encompasses risk control, claims management and training.
  • Innovation: Programs typically develop unique coverage offerings.
  • Ownership: Members own the pool, including any surplus/equity if losses are lower than expected.
  • Flexibility: Pools respond to individual members’ needs through deductibles, varying SIR levels and special coverages.
  • Control: Members are more involved in key decisions such as claims resolution, funding levels and services.

Let us help you do an assessment of such a concept as “captive” for you or for a group of nonprofits.
