Ebola: Preparation Continues to be Key

Published on by

Healthcare leaders and organizations around the country continue to closely monitor recommendations from the (Centers for Disease Control) CDC and actively plan training programs in response to the Ebola threat. An important step in this process is to ensure healthcare teams are actively managing and maintaining the resources and systems we have designed into our facilities to manage these risks. This paper will offer recommendations for such considerations.

The information from The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has highlighted management of this process as an ongoing concern. Effective preparation for Ebola mandates that we ensure all systems already engineered for patient and staff safety are thoroughly inspected, tested and compliant with all required preventative maintenance protocol, including education for all users and maintainers of the system.
