Market Conditions 2017 - Financial Institution Bond

Financial Institution Bond insurance renewal premiums fell within a “stable” range (+/- a few percentage points) in 2016. Internal distractions within three of our top-ten financial fidelity insurers (Ace/Chubb merger, AIG’s fidelity restructuring and Zurich’s diversified financial restructuring) diminished the level of competition in 2016, and we expect this lackluster competition to continue into 2017.

Gallagher Higher Education Think Tank Study: Reputational Risk

The 2016 Arthur J. Gallagher Think Tank for Higher Education Risk Management examined one of the more difficult risks to manage: reputation. Now seen as one of the key critical risks affecting organisations today, reputational risk is, by some measures, the master risk into which all other risks feed. Management of—or, perhaps more to the point, the failure to manage—reputational risk could have such a severe impact on an organisation as to make redundant all other forms of risk management.

Shipowners Take Note: The Impact of Federal Sanctions Imposed Against Russia

President Obama recently issued three Executive Orders (“E. O.”) in response to the annexation of Crimea by Russia. These E.O.s can impose sanctions on named officials of the Russian government, any individual or entity that operates in the Russian arms industry - and any designated individual or entity that acts on behalf of, or that provides material or other support to, any senior Russian government official. We recommend that shipowners (U.S. Persons) consider monitoring the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list.

2015 Updated - Gallagher Higher Education Think Tank Study: Infectious Disease Emergency Protocol for Colleges and Universities
