School Talk: Use of EpiPens

Published on

While the distribution of EpiPens among educators offers the potential to save lives, it also presents medical and liability issues that educators need to address.

Each district should adopt an EpiPen-specific policy that identifies the circumstances in which these devices are available, when they’re to be used, those who are authorized to do so and the type of training they must receive.

Schools should also consider the advice of legal counsel, to ensure compliance with their state’s immunity requirements.
