J. Patrick Gallagher Jr.

Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Gallagher

J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. began his career with Gallagher as an intern in 1972, started working for the company full time in 1974 as a Production Account Executive and was promoted to Vice President-Operations in 1985. He was elected to the Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Board of Directors in 1986. In 1990, he was named President and Chief Operating Officer and, in 1995, was appointed Chief Executive Officer by the Board of Directors. In 2006 he was appointed Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Gallagher joined the Board of Trustees of the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters in 2003, and serves on the Board of Founding Directors of the International Insurance Foundation and the Board of Directors of InnerWorkings, Inc. In addition, he serves on the Advisory Council of Boys Hope/Girls Hope and the Board of Advisors for Catholic Charities, and is a member of The Economic Club of Chicago, the Executives Club of Chicago and the Commercial Club of Chicago.

In 2007, Mr. Gallagher was granted Freedom of the City of London by the city’s Lord Mayor in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Lloyd’s insurance market and for his support of the Gallagher Lifelong Learning scholarships. In 2009, he was honored by the Spencer Educational Foundation (which is affiliated with the Risk and Insurance Management Society) for his ongoing support of the Foundation. And in 2013, he was named Insurance Broking CEO of the Year by Reactions Magazine.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Cornell University.

Dr. Alexander Bartz

Partner, Vanguard/Littler Global

Alexander has been an employment law specialist for a number of years and he established his reputation whilst working at leading international law firms and at Germany’s largest boutique firm for employment law. He advises his national and international clients on issues of individual and collective employment law with a focus on tariff law. The core areas of his practice include advising on restructurings and on questions and disputes arising under the Works Council Constitutional Act.


Jana Bixby

Manager, Research & Publications, Gallagher

Jana is a manager of the Research and Publications department with the Multinational Benefits & HR Consulting Unit of Gallagher. She manages the production of global employee benefits information system GVISOR™ and serves as a regional specialist reporting on changes in benefits regulations and trends in the EMEA region.


Michelle Colona

Vice President & Head U.S. Sales, Cigna Global Health Benefits

Michelle is the Vice President & Head of Cigna Global Health Benefits® U.S. Sales Team.  Michelle is based in Houston, Texas and is responsible for driving sales initiatives for the North America business to support continued growth and diversification of services. Michelle has extensive experience and expertise in the group insurance industry, specifically in international health care benefits, and is widely recognized as a leader in the global benefits market who is committed to providing clients with innovative, cost effective solutions.


Holly Creed

Global Mobility Manager, DXC Technology

Holly currently works as a Global Mobility Manager responsible for Europe within a large technology firm, DXC Technology. She is fast gathering a positive reputation within the industry and in 2016 was nominated and shortlisted for Global Mobility Rising Star within the EMEA region and in 2018 co-founded and launched the Next Gen GM.


Stephen C. Daas

Chief Operating Officer - GTN US

Steve is Global Tax Network's Chief Operating Officer. He found his niche in global mobility tax while working for Arthur Andersen and being sent on a short-term international assignment to Brussels, Belgium. After 11 years in Arthur Andersen's global mobility practice area, he moved to Ernst & Young, eventually becoming a partner. While there, he served a 3-1/2 year assignment in Singapore, giving him firsthand experience as an expat - knowledge he relies on even now to help clients review and develop effective international mobility policies.


Brian Friedman

Founder, The Forum for Expatriate Management

Brian is the world’s leading authority on global mobility. In a business career spanning 35 years, Brian has worked and lectured in over 40 cities worldwide including throughout Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. In 2008, Brian founded The Forum for Expatriate Management (FEM) and oversaw its rapid expansion before selling the business a few years ago.

Paul Roels

Paul is associate lecturer at the Law Faculty of the KU Leuven University. He is member of several policy advisory groups. Paul publishes frequently in professional magazines and is author of many professional books. Paul worked, and spoke on conferences around the globe. He is fluent in 4 languages. 


Eric Roesner

He established a new global vendor strategy, transitioned operational activities to a service delivery center in Bulgaria, defined common global processes and implemented a new technology platform to manage activities and enhance reporting.

Trent M. Sutton

Sandra Winstanley

Manager Global Mobility and Benefits, HEINEKEN

Sandra is responsible for driving and executing HEINEKEN’s Global Mobility policies. Together with her team, she is responsible for HEINEKEN’s 600+ global assignees spread across 60 countries, including many remote and hardship locations.  She is passionate about international moves, recognizing that behind the statistics there are families with very unique situations. Prior to joining HEINEKEN, Sandra worked for an international human resources consulting firm where she advised multinationals on pension and benefit plan strategy, governance and M&As.


Dr. Gerlind Wisskirchen

Gerlind is a specialist lawyer in the area of labor and employment law with a special focus on advising international corporations.  The excellence of her advice lies in her profound understanding of the business environments of her clients and her strategic, precise, clear recommendations. Gerlind is a regular moderator and panelist at national and international conferences on the legal issues of international HR management and on issues of cross-border Labor and employment law.

We are accepting submissions for the 48th annual IBIS Academy, 7-11 May 2018 in Berlin, Germany.
