Gallagher team members in Liverpool have raised almost £9,000 for hospice Claire House, as part of a wider volunteering and support programme for the local charity.

Claire House Children’s Hospice, which was chosen as the ‘Charity of the Year’ for the Liverpool branch, helps seriously and terminally ill children to live their lives to the full by providing specialist nursing care and emotional support to families. Since opening in 1998, the hospice has grown to now support more than 400 families.

Following a series of fundraising activity, from fun runs and bake days to tuck shops and raffles, the Liverpool team visited the charity and presented a cheque in the sum of £8,732.75. Gallagher was able to ‘Pay for a Day’ at the Hospice, with £6,500 of the total covering the cost of 24 hours of care, allowing the hospice to continue to deliver its vital service. The remaining balance will help Claire House continue to reach out to many more children in the local community.

In addition to the fundraising, over the last year team members also volunteered at the new premises in West Derby to fill goody bags as part of the 5K Splash Dash 2017 race. Whilst in August, Gallagher delighted three children from the hospice, and their families, with a corporate box experience to watch St Helens Rugby League team.

Stephen Penketh, North West Regional Managing Director for Gallagher, said: “It was great to see my colleagues come together in aid of this fantastic local cause. I am immensely proud of everyone who took part in fundraising activities for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

“As a community broker, Gallagher is extremely passionate about providing support to local services. We hope that this impressive total will go some way to make a real difference to the lives of many children in the local community.”

Thanking the team for their efforts, Beth Pochin, Merseyside Corporate Fundraiser at Claire House, commented: “We want to say a huge thank you to Gallagher for its ongoing support. We have been overwhelmed with the efforts and generosity in raising funds for our hospice.

“It will make a massive difference to our children and their families, in addition to providing funding for our plans to expand our facilities – enabling us to treat even more children across Liverpool and Merseyside.”
