Susan Young, managing director of private clients and head of Gallagher’s Irvine branch, has been recognised as one of this year’s Women of Inspiration by the Association of Scottish Businesswomen (ASB). 

Every year, the ASB awards 12 exemplary Scottish women for their achievements in business and the wider community.

Over the course of 22 years with Gallagher, Susan has progressed through the ranks and built a stellar, 135-strong nationwide team that delivers a first-class service to clients. Alongside the duties of her day job, Susan is business ambassador for the Ayrshire Hospice and is involved with charity fundraising events, from organising annual Autumn balls to climbing Goat Fell for the Scottish Cot Death Society.

Susan said: “It is an honour to win this award alongside so many inspiring women. It is very important to me to be able to give back to my local community, either through my day job, helping clients and local businesses, or on a personal level, by supporting the work of incredible charities.”

With roots in Irvine dating back more than 50 years to 1967, Gallagher is one of the largest insurance brokers in Scotland, employing c.500 people and 4,500 across the UK as a whole. The business serves local communities from of a wide footprint of offices with branches not only in the major business hubs of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness but also in Dumfries, Ayr, Fort William, the Isle of Skye and Irvine.
