Gallagher today announced the appointment of Bruce Dettling as Global Head of Mining and Heavy Industry. In this newly created role Bruce will be responsible for leading this global specialist practice with teams based in the UK, Latin America, Canada and Australia. He will join in November and report to Malcolm Payton, CEO, Property & Casualty Insurance Solutions and Head of Global Fac at Gallagher Specialty.
Bruce brings extensive senior level broking experience gained over a 20-year period and joins Gallagher from Aon where most recently he was Head of Mining, based in London. He has also held roles at Lloyd & Partners and Marsh. For the majority of his career, he has specialised in mining and associated industries but also brings experience of property and casualty broking.
Gallagher's sector specialists support mining and heavy industry companies of all sizes with their operations, projects and investments across the globe. Mining companies face a wide range of risks, from natural catastrophe and machinery breakdown, to potential environmental and transportation hazards, as well as financial risks. Its client base operates across 25 diverse commodities and the team has extensive industry-specific experience and expertise.
