Surgical Indemnity Scheme Limited (SIS) is a membership organisation for UK general surgeons practising in the NHS and independent sectors. Gallagher is the appointed broker to SIS, giving their members the option to access the tailored professional indemnity insurance products we can offer. Gallagher’s team includes specialist in-house brokers and experienced medico-legal advisers.

From our collaboration with SIS we receive valuable input from their Clinical Board, which is made up of practising general surgeons, to inform us on the changing risks of the sector. We can then work with Insurers to ensure the policies we offer to SIS members continue to meet the evolving needs of general surgeons.

The Clinical Board

SIS is a wholly owned subsidiary of the ASGBI (Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland). The Clinical Board are experienced general surgeons and are responsible for the governance of the Scheme. The Board meet regularly to carry out their statutory duties and responsibilities as company directors, discuss developments in the sector and share best practice.

Becoming a SIS member

The cost of annual membership is £200. If you are interested in becoming a member of SIS to complement the insurance offered by Gallagher, we would be happy to arrange this for you. The services provided by Gallagher to SIS include the collection of their membership fee, which we pass on to them in full, along with your name, contact information and confirmation of the date your membership will start (to coincide with the start date of your insurance policy).
