Research – The Gallagher Way!

Since we launched the Gallagher Research Centre (GRC), our dual aim of creating a strong, lasting collaboration between Gallagher Re and our academic partners, and bringing cutting-edge research to our clients, has always been front of mind.

Our dual aim of creating a strong, lasting collaboration between Gallagher Re and our academic partners, and bringing cutting-edge research to our clients, has always been front of mind. In a world that faces myriad risk management challenges, those same tenets align with the core aims of the GRC to support our clients in an ever-increasing and evolving risk landscape.

At the GRC, we strive to be more personal, not only by listening carefully to colleagues, but also to our clients - across the full spectrum of Gallagher’s global practices and products - to ensure our research leads to better risk quantification and to further improve our services offering.

By its very nature the insurance industry is often buffeted by multiple challenges that can sometimes result in far-reaching impacts – from rising insurance claims, civil unrest, economic impacts, damage to property and loss of belongings. All of which provides a timely reminder of our inter-connected world and the challenges this raises for the reinsurance market.

Alongside the wealth of internal expertise that exists within Gallagher Re’s analytics, model evaluation, research and development teams, GRC’s academic partners can see their work implemented into real-world business solutions and services within the reinsurance sector. Our partners also get the chance to network with academics in different institutions supported by the GRC, as part of our growing ecosystem of research partners. This type of collaboration is important to facilitate the networking and cross-fertilization of topics and ideas.

All ground-breaking research or innovation should start with a well-defined problem statement – identifying the issue(s) that need resolving. We work with industry practitioners and experts to understand how these risks interplay, cascade and compound each other. These are big challenges to solve. However, by working closely with GRC collaborators, our colleagues and clients, we will deliver innovative services to support solving the problems that our clients and industry face today - and in future.
