inclusivity pledge

Today Gallagher proudly joined forces with other brokers, insurers and industry bodies as founding signatories of the Inclusive Behaviours Pledge – a collective cross-industry commitment designed to change unevolved behaviours and create a more inclusive work environment across the sector.

The Pledge addresses all forms of discrimination in the workplace, whether on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnerships, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion/belief, gender or sexual orientation.  It sets out a clear framework of desired behaviours for leaders and their employees in the workplace, as well as in their interactions with suppliers and customers.

Spearheaded by Lloyd's and Zurich, with 50 firms currently on board, the Pledge is comprised of CEO-level commitments that lay the groundwork for policies and procedures to report and reduce any inappropriate or discriminatory behaviour in the workplace. It commits CEOs to taking action within their own organisations if their employees are not treated with dignity at work, with serious repercussions for the perpetrators of any behaviour which falls short of the desired behaviours.

Alongside Gallagher, other founding signatories include trade bodies the British Insurance Brokers’ Association, the Association of British Insurers and the Lloyd’s Market Association, with other high profile organisations set to sign up to the Pledge in the coming weeks. Gallagher’s own UK Inclusion & Diversity committee is already working in tandem with the Pledge to ensure everyone across the business can thrive in their roles, and we look forward to seeing the broader impact of a public, industry-wide commitment.
