Henk joins Gallagher from Aon, where he has worked for the last 25 years in its M&A and transaction solutions practice. He was Managing Director of the Benelux region, a role he held for 11 years, and between 2000 and 2014 he was a Senior Consultant, operating across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, plus Central & Eastern Europe.

Henk brings a proven track record of delivering revenue growth, developing and launching new services and is experienced in building high performing teams. During his career he has specialised in helping clients to navigate complex insurance landscapes, minimising risk and optimising coverage for organisations undergoing multimillion-euro mergers and acquisitions.

Over the last year, Gallagher has been expanding its pan-European financial lines expertise, and this appointment adds to the firms existing tax specialism, led by Joyce Koch, who joined in October last year and its cyber offering, led by Aldo Borsani, who joined in July 2024. With the appointment of Henk and the bringing together of Gallagher’s tax expertise the new practice will offer products and services for corporate transactions including warranty and indemnity insurance, tax liability insurance and contingent liability insurance, which are increasingly popular amongst European firms undertaking transactions, helping them to mitigate increased risks caused by the current economic uncertainty.

Based in Amsterdam, Henk will operate across Europe and report to Nepomuk Loesti, Chief Commercial Officer for the region. Europe is currently seeing a strong M&A market and predicted to continue to grow1. The launch of this practice and investment in Henk’s expertise reflects the increased demand for clients to have local on-the-ground expertise in this specialised insurance offering.

Commenting on the economic environment and opportunities for firms trading locally, Henk said: “We continue to see a significant amount of M&A in Europe and Gallagher is well placed to support businesses in the region with insurance solutions to help protect them from unexpected risks and challenges when undertaking deals. Gallagher is focused on growing its footprint in Europe so it’s a great time to be joining the team as it expands.”

Nepomuk added: “Henk is a well-known European risk professional with extensive knowledge of M&A insurance and it is fantastic to bring someone of his calibre on board for our European operations. We have been steadily growing our team and expanding our expertise over the last 24 months and the launch of this new practice area demonstrates our commitment to bringing our European clients the very best knowledge in the market. There continues to be a strong theme of local and overseas investment in Europe and Gallagher is well placed to support firms undertaking deals in the region with this new specialism.”
