Gallagher, the global insurance broking and risk management company, today announced the appointment of specialist international tax and M&A lawyer Adriana Carvalho Assuncao as a director within its fast-growing private equity and M&A practice.
Adriana joins Gallagher this week from KPMG, bringing more than a decade of experience advising multinational groups on cross-border matters. She has been part of KPMG's US international tax practice in London for more than six years, most recently in the role of manager, specialising in M&A transactions, corporate reorganisations and international tax structuring for European multinational and US-based corporate clients. A qualified lawyer admitted to the Brazilian Bar, with an LL.M in Taxation from Washington DC's Georgetown Law, Adriana's professional experience spans buy and sell-side US tax due diligence, international tax structuring and providing legal counsel on sophisticated cross-border transactions.
Adriana's appointment builds on a raft of recent tax specialist hires across Europe, as Gallagher deepens its investment in specialist risk expertise to expand its range of client-focused solutions for private capital businesses and/or those engaged in transactional risk activities. Only last month, corporate M&A tax advisor Tom Hughes joined the UK-based team from EY, as a director of tax insurance, with Adriana continuing the practice's focus on investing in international talent from the global professional services sector to best meet fast-evolving client needs.
Commenting on Adriana's appointment to the UK-based team of the global practice, Steve Jones, CEO of private equity and transactional risks in the UK, said: "We are delighted that Adriana is bringing her extensive experience in international tax and M&A to Gallagher, as we continue to build out our specialist teams to support private capital clients and corporate transactions. Private capital is a huge driver of transformative growth around the world, involving complex transactions that demand the best multi-disciplinary minds and advisory services to maximise deal-value creation. International tax expertise and specialist counsel is a vital part of that client service and Adriana's expertise will be a fantastic asset to our UK-based but internationally focused team."
Giles Hambly, head of tax insurance for the UK & Ireland, added: "The addition of Adriana to the team continues Gallagher's commitment to bringing the highest levels of tax/legal expertise to our team, as we continue to build our reputation as a market leader in this field."
