Chad Stutelberg

Chad Stutelberg is a national managing director with the Physician Compensation and Valuation service line of Gallagher's Human Resources and Compensation Consulting practice. He has been a healthcare consultant for more than 20 years. Before joining Gallagher, he worked for the University of Minnesota Department of Pediatrics.

Chad's consulting experience is in the areas of physician benchmarking, compensation and operations. His extensive experience in auditing, designing and implementing new physician income distribution models for physicians affiliated with integrated delivery systems, academic medical centers, stand-alone hospitals and large physician group practices. His work has helped clients better align their compensation systems, improve their financial performance and increase their success in recruiting and retaining the best physicians.

Having conducted valuations of the contractual agreements between hospitals and physicians for more than 20 years, Chad can assist his clients in ensuring the compensation they provide is within fair market value and commercially reasonable. Chad has also worked with many clients to develop appropriate policies, procedures and governance structures to ensure the organization is consistent with the best practices for physician compensation compliance.

In addition, Chad has helped clients develop compensation strategies and performance-based compensation programs for physicians in administrative positions, including identifying appropriate benchmarks, measuring performance, and developing medical directorship and clinical co-management programs. In these projects, he helps clients develop financial proformas and operational analyses that help improve the financial performance and clinical outcomes of a service line or clinical practice.

Chad has a Master of Arts in industrial relations from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
