Supply chain issues continue to be cause for concern for business owners and we took a deep dive to explore this issue in our 2025 Business Owners Survey. From costs to interruptions to product recall, business owners are taking steps to ensure they are diversified and protected from potential impacts to keep their businesses running smoothly.

93% of business owners are concerned about supply chain disruptions affecting their business over the next 12 months; 90% reported being concerned about the impact of tariffs
  • The majority of business owners (73%) have dealt with supply chain disruptions that impacted their business in 2023 or 2024 or during both years.
  • Three in four business owners (75%) have contingency suppliers in place to manage potential supply chain disruptions.

Product recall

Product recall can have a direct and widespread effect on the supply chain.

When asked if they're concerned about product recall, 89% of business owners indicated they have some level of concern.

89% are concerned about product recall and the effects on the supply chain; 85% report having been affected by a recall.

They have good reasons to be concerned. In fact, 47% of business owners reported having had a product recall; 44% have had a supplier affected by product recall.

Further, 31% of business owners have removed a product from their inventory/shelf due to a product recall.

Product recall affects production and the ability to meet future orders. It can also jeopardize a company's reputation, even if the product being recalled is received from a supplier but used in another company's final product.

Looking to the future

Almost all of the businesses surveyed indicated they were planning to make investments in supply chain technologies.
