Gallagher today announced two CEO appointments in its Specialty division. Alex Vullo has been appointed CEO of marine and fine art & specie replacing Jonathan Suckling, who will be moving into a chairman role from January 2027. In his new role, Alex will lead 150 colleagues, looking after clients across the globe.

Alex joined Gallagher in 2005 as a marine broker and has led its Protection and Indemnity (P&I) specialism for the past three years. Gallagher first established its marine practice in 1994, which has grown to become one of the leading broking teams in the global maritime and shipping sector with extensive experience in placing insurance programmes across all major marine geographical hubs including London, Scandinavia, Continental Europe, the US and Singapore.

Gallagher's fine art & specie practice provides specialised insurance and risk management solutions for high-value assets. The team operates globally and is deeply embedded in the London market, with clients including museums, galleries, private collectors and bullion dealers.

In a further leadership appointment, Mark Hubbard has been appointed CEO of property & special risks, having led these on an interim basis since the start of this year. Mark has worked at Gallagher since 2000 and brings a wealth of experience to this key leadership role with responsibility for the firm's specialty property and special risks operations in London and Bermuda.

Gallagher's property offering designs bespoke insurance and risk management solutions for complex risks around the world across Lloyd's, London companies and the broader international insurance carrier marketplace. Gallagher's special risks offering provides difficult to place solutions for clients in the accident & health, contingency, livestock & aquaculture sectors. Both Alex and Mark will report to Sarah Lyons, CEO of Gallagher's Specialty division.

Commenting on the news, Sarah said: "To make these two leadership appointments from within our existing team speaks volume about the talent we have at Gallagher. Mark has done a great job leading our property & special risks teams since the start of this year and he has a strong understanding of our business, the risks facing clients and the property market globally.

"Likewise, Alex has built much of his career at Gallagher and brings a clear vision for the next phase of growth for marine, fine art & specie, supported by a strong team, and he will continue to build on the fantastic platform Jonathan has created.

"I want to thank Jonathan for his amazing leadership over nearly 25 years from when our marine team was in its early days. Over the past two decades, he has built this practice into one of the industry's most respected and his vision, leadership and relentless focus on clients have been instrumental in shaping the business we have today. I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new chairman role."
