Q: Congratulations, Mark! Tell us more about what this award means for Gallagher and our clients?

MP: Thank you! This award is a fantastic recognition of Gallagher's commitment to helping our clients achieve their broader people objectives, like attracting and retaining talent, enhancing culture, and improving staff performance.

The judges praised our expertise across reward, engagement, pensions, and benefits, and how it means we can tailor solutions specifically to our clients' unique business goals.

Take our work with Nationwide Building Society1, for example. By taking time to understand Nationwide's objectives, an initial query about flexible benefits technology turned into a partnership that reshaped their Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and delivered impactful results.

Gallagher helps people and companies face the future with confidence. Implementing an effective benefits strategy plays a massive role in this. Being recognised by the wider industry for the work we're doing in helping companies attract the best talent while increasing employee engagement will only spur us on to keep innovating.

Q: How does Gallagher define success in corporate consulting?

MP: Our clients rarely have explicit pension and benefits objectives. Instead, they have people needs and objectives such as higher staff retention and attraction, enhanced culture and performance, improved EVP and market presence, increased return on investment, and better management of people and business risks.

Success, to us, means delivering pension and employee benefit solutions in a way which results in an engaging personalised employee experience, simple administration and data to measure impact and identify areas for future improvement — directly supporting our clients' people objectives

We continue to develop data and analytics solutions that deliver actionable insights on individual preferences and demographic behaviours. This way our clients can focus attention on the areas that will have the biggest impact, from both a people and business perspective.

Q: What sets Gallagher apart when it comes delivering client satisfaction?

MP: Alongside our consistently high levels of client retention, we're so proud of our excellent client satisfaction net promoter score (NPS) of 76. This score is testament to the strong advocacy we've earned from our clients. which is underpinned by the quality of our people and the strength of our culture.

Gallagher is a people business and as part of the award submission, we shared examples of the amazing initiatives undertaken across our business that demonstrate our ongoing commitment to professional development, inclusion and diversity, and the communities we work and live in.

We bring this to life for our clients through hosting regular insights events with experts, networking events and roundtable discussions - which client feedback tells us is highly valued. But we also invest heavily in our own people through Learning & Development initiatives, volunteering opportunities and mentoring programmes.

Q: How is Gallagher harnessing technology and innovation to drive the industry forward?

MP: We are continuously innovating at Gallagher.

For example, recent research from our Workforce Trends Report showed that communication remains a significant challenge for 31.1% of organisations. And with email and the intranet still the primary communication channels, it's no wonder that many employers struggle to showcase the full value of their offering.

Our Total Rewards Statement capability within Gallagher Guide allows employers to bring the full scope of their benefits to life in real time for employees and candidates, all the while reinforcing their EVP.

We also know that increasing employee engagement through increased flexibility is a top priority for over half (55.8%) of employers. At the same time, we believe AI has an increasingly big part to play here. More choice and flexibility means more decisions. AI will have a big impact in helping employees to navigate choices, further improving outcomes and return on investment.

Q: How is Gallagher helping our clients reduce costs and attract top talent?

MP: Gallagher's holistic approach to benefits consulting is just one of the reasons we were named Firm of the Year. The judges praised our ability to use data-driven insights to deliver tailored solutions that reduce costs, enhance employee wellbeing and attract top talent.

Take, for example, our client, a global, household brand name:

We used demographic, eligibility and claims data to review the existing benefits and identify gaps or duplications in the employee wellbeing journey. It helped to deliver a wide range of changes which broadened health and wellbeing support across the entire workforce and enhanced preventative and early intervention services.

Thanks to their intuitive employee benefits portal and streamlined benefit design, this client was able to achieve:

  • 75% reduction in late absence notification
  • 50% decrease in long-term ill health claimants
  • 121% increase in health screening
  • 75% rise in gym membership
