Gallagher today announced a senior appointment in its Middle East & Africa (MEA) business, with Amanda Wynne taking a role as Divisional Director to lead M&A insurance solutions for clients across the region.

The region is currently seeing a buoyant M&A market, with activity particularly prevalent in the GCC over recent years, and Amanda’s new role reflects the increased demand for clients to have local on-the-ground expertise in this specialised insurance offering. Products that Amanda will advise on include warranty and indemnity insurance, tax liability insurance and contingent liability insurance.

Amanda trained and qualified as a corporate lawyer in Bermuda and in 2019 joined AON in its transaction solutions team where she advised US buyers and sellers on the procurement, structuring and placement of representations and warranties insurance. She helped clients navigate complex insurance landscapes, minimising risk and optimising coverage for organisations undergoing multibillion-dollar mergers and acquisitions. Prior to this, Amanda was an Associate Lawyer in insurance law at Appleby.

Amanda has joined Gallagher today, based in its office in the DIFC, reporting to Daniel Miller, Divisional Director of Financial Lines for MEA. The business has a team of circa 50 risk professionals based in the region offering specialist insurance knowledge in sectors including energy, construction, financial services, marine and aviation – all sectors that are seeing significant growth in the region.

Commenting on the economic environment and opportunities for firms trading locally, Daniel said: “Overseas and local investment in the region has boomed over recent years and although we are not entirely immune to the global economic challenges we are seeing elsewhere, there is still high level of positivity around growth and the opportunities for firms trading here.

“We continue to see a significant amount of M&A so we are delighted to bring Amanda on board to support existing and new clients with insurance solutions to help protect them from unexpected risks and challenges when undertaking deals. Amanda has an infectious enthusiasm and I am looking forward to working with her as we expand our services.”

Amanda added: “I am thrilled to join Gallagher; the team in MEA all have a positive and ‘can do’ attitude and a focus on providing clients with first rate technical knowledge of the insurance solutions available to them. Gallagher has grown its footprint in the region over recent years and with macro-economic expertsi continuing to predict growth outstripping many other regions, there is the opportunity to support more businesses trading locally and internationally with their M&A risks.”
