The Gallagher Difference

The challenge.

One of our clients suffered a major loss due to fire severely damaging their property namely building machinery and stock. Three subsidiaries of the insured group, two insurers and six insurance policies of the insured and various other policies of vendors were impacted. Further being a very large loss, apart from police and fire brigade reports, the insurers preferred to carry out survey appointing two different surveyors and sought forensic investigation and SAP audit as well. There were question marks about which policy will pay which portion of the claim.

Our action.

Our claims team was directly involved from day one with a joint visit of the surveyor to site for inspection. We stepped-in to find justified solution for correct interpretation of policy coverage amongst the insurers and insurance policies. The team-facilitated coordination with the surveyors, investigators and SAP professionals, collating the documents to confirm the admissibility and justify quantum of loss. With our rich experience and negotiation skills, we finally got the insurers to accept their respective liabilities.

The result.

Working across four cities across the country coordinating with the insurer, to mitigate the loss we managed to obtain an on account payment of INR 300 m. Finally, we managed to settle the claims totaling to INR 748.76 m net of deductible and salvage.
