Gallagher, the global insurance broking and risk management company, has announced the appointment of Gabriella Eriksen Wingren into its global multidisciplinary Private Equity and M&A practice (PEMA) as Head of Transaction Solutions, Nordics to further expand the practice's European presence. Gabriella will join Gallagher on 22 July 2026.

Gabriella's appointment highlights the continued focus by the PEMA practice on building out deep-seated client-focused expertise across the M&A solutions and wider capital advisory space, expanding its geographic footprint to stay close to client communities and adding regional leadership. It follows the announcement earlier this month of a new PEMA team in Italy, including Federica Marcabruni in a similar regional leadership role, as Head of Transaction Solutions, Italy.

With a background as a corporate and M&A lawyer, Gabriella joins from Themis Underwriting where she was Head of Europe for Warranty & Indemnity (W&I) insurance, having previously been Senior W&I Underwriter. Prior to that, she was a manager at PwC Sweden where she advised private equity and corporate clients to structure and close complex transactions across different industries, having previously provided legal consultancy as part of the private capital transaction team at global private markets firm EQT.

Based in Sweden, Gabriella will work closely with sector specialist colleagues across the multidisciplinary PEMA practice, as well as Gallagher's well-established Nordic risk management and insurance broking business with its increasingly diverse range of capabilities to ensure clients benefit from a fully integrated approach to all their strategic risk needs.

Reporting into Gabriella in Sweden will be Emilia Johansson, who joined Gallagher in February as W&I insurance and M&A broker with a background in advising private equity firms and corporate clients on strategic risk transfer solutions across diverse sectors and deal sizes.

Alistair Lester, Gallagher CEO for Private Equity and M&A, UK and EMEA, said: "The Nordic private equity and M&A market continues to show resilience and perform strongly, with significant financial sponsor activity across multiple sectors, underlining the importance of offering transactional risk expertise and advisory in region. Gabriella brings a fantastic blend of underwriting experience and legal expertise from within the sophisticated Nordic M&A market to ensure we continue to offer clients the most effective insurance-backed solutions to unlock and maximise post-deal value creation. She will be a vital part of our client-focused PEMA team as we build out our wider M&A and capital advisory services in the Nordics."

Jonas Bergfeldt, CEO of Gallagher in the Nordics, added: "We're very much looking forward to welcoming Gabriella into the wider Gallagher risk management and insurance team here in the Nordics where we continue to expand our range of capabilities and expertise for the benefit of our expanding client base. Being able to offer the private capital and corporate M&A community regionally specific transactional risk expertise is another great example of how we're always looking to diversify our range of advisory support and services."

Gabriella said: "To be honest, I can't wait to get started and am excited by the move to the broking side where I can work even more closely with clients. There are so many opportunities to bring together the advisory expertise and solutions from Gallagher's PEMA practice with its wider risk and insurance business, as well as directly support the private capital and deal-making communities across the Nordic region."

Globally, Gallagher has been expanding out its M&A, private capital and portfolio solutions operations over the past 12 months, building out a multidisciplinary team of advisors across EMEA and in the US. It offers specialist services and indemnity solutions for corporate transactions including risk and insurance due diligence, W&I, structured credit, tax liability and contingent liability, which are increasingly popular among private equity, other funds and corporates undertaking transactions to help them mitigate increased risks caused by the current economic uncertainty.
