We're fortunate to serve in a manner that exceeds the corporate standard. It's how we've operated since 1927, and it's grounded us even as we've grown from a small brokerage into a FORTUNE 500 company.

You cannot engineer integrity; you must act upon it. We strive every day to provide environmental, social and economic benefits to the communities in which we live and work.

We're just getting started, and by following The Gallagher Way — our blueprint for success — we'll continue to establish trust with the communities we serve.

The Gallagher Way

Shared values at Gallagher are the foundation of the Company and our Culture. The key tenets of this culture were captured in a one-page document, The Gallagher Way, penned in 1984 by our former Chairman and CEO, Robert E. Gallagher.

Corporate Social Responsibility

We call more than 130 countries home, yet our mission to improve the world transcends borders and cultures. Whether on or off the grid, our teams strive to leave the communities they serve better than they found them.

To mark our 90th anniversary in 2017, our business gave 90,000 hours of service back to our collective communities. Here in Australia we have been active in supporting a range of good causes including the Jodi Lee Foundation, Movember Foundation and The Smith Family.

Sustainability

We believe that sustainability is critical to business success and we think that in order to truly be a sustainable organisation we need to do the right thing by not just our business, but also our people, our communities and our environment.

Preserving the environment is more than moral imperative; it's sound business strategy. We take environmental impact into account in both our major purchase decisions and everyday operations. We actively seek to do the right thing by our environment and reduce our environmental footprint.

Our initiatives include:

  • Choosing the most energy-efficient office building for our office refits
  • Using low-wattage, motion-activated overhead office lights in our largest offices
  • Sourcing office fitout materials from an accredited Australian-based sustainable supplier
  • Actively participate in the global Earth Hour initiative
  • All of our medium and large office locations feature hot/chilled water dispensing units to reduce need for bottled water
  • Recycling waste office paper at all sites
  • Recycling printer and photocopier toners

The Ethisphere® Institute is the global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices and, as the only insurance broker to have won this award, the recognition underscores our commitment to leading ethical business standards and practices.

This commitment is central to our philosophy as a business — and always will be.
