Proposed Rule by FEMA to Establish State Deductibles

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has proposed a rule change regarding how Public Assistance is computed for each grantee (state). It outlines a formula that would calculate a deductible for each state. FEMA is asking for public comment by April 12, 2017 – so this needs your immediate attention.

Hard Hat Bulletin - Contact Dermatitis

Contact dermatitis, also called eczema, is defined as an inflammation of the skin resulting from exposure to a hazardous agent. It is the most common form of reported Occupational Skin Disease (OSD), and represents a burden for workers. Epidemiological data indicate that contact dermatitis constitutes approximately 90–95% of all cases of OSD in the United States. Common symptoms of dermatitis include itching, pain, redness, swelling, small blisters or wheals (itchy, red circles with a white center) on the skin, or dry, flaking, scaly skin that may develop cracks.

Hard Hat Bulletin - Carbon Monoxide

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an invisible gas with no taste or smell. It can become especially dangerous if it builds up in tightly confined areas. It is just slightly lighter than air so it can hang around in enclosed spaces. All fuels, including “cleaner” fuels like propane, create CO.

School Talk: Mobile Food Vendors on School Sites

While the prospect of fundraising using food trucks is tempting, it may come with a price tag that could include property damage, foodborne illnesses and injured event participants. If a food truck will be present at a school sanctioned event, it is important that a mobile food vendor policy is in place which sets forth guidelines for the safe operation of food trucks on your premises.
