Tell us about your role at Gallagher
I work in the Alesco Division looking after the Operations Control function.
What was your very first job and what did that teach you?
My very first job was working weekends in a clothing store - it taught me a lot about building rapport and engaging with people.
Did you have a childhood career ambition — and are you prepared to share it?
Once I realised that I probably wasn’t going to become a ballerina, I decided I wanted to work in law.
How did you come to work in risk management & insurance: choice or chance?
By chance – I was looking for an Operations role and saw one advertised at an Insurance broker
What excites you most about the industry?
The expertise in the industry and it being used to drive the best solutions for clients
What has been your career highlight so far?
My career highlight thus far was spending a couple of months living in India whilst working with the offshore team there on how we could work together more effectively and efficiently
What one piece of advice would you give to your younger self / What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
1. Be open-minded about your career path as you may end up somewhere unexpected but in a role you love. 2. Seek feedback and use it to learn and grow
The insurance industry as a whole continues to face the challenge of an under-representation of women at senior level — what do you believe could help ‘move the dial’?
Reverse mentoring to gain insight from women not in senior positions
