The new normal: the impact of COVID-19 on claims management

This session from Mark Fowles, Director of DWF LLP, will consider what has changed following lockdown, how the courts have been impacted and what the revised protocols mean for public sector organisations.

Mark Fowles is a Director of DWF LLP and works out of the Bristol office. After a teaching career in the East End, Mark studied law and specialises in defendant personal injury work, including large loss, highway claims, abuse and claims involving psychiatric injury and stress at work. He specialises in claims involving public bodies. He is co-author with Dr Jock McKenzie of the Medico Legal Handbook and a co-editor of Local Authority Liability.

Local government – new duties and risk/liability exposures arising out of COVID-19

This session features David Hansom and Jennette Newman, Partners at Clyde & Co LLP, and will look practically at the impacts of COVID-19 on local authorities, potential new areas of claim and how to minimise claims exposure and maximise defences.

David Hansom is a Partner at Clyde & Co and leads the global procurement and state aid practice, with significant experience in advising clients in the UK and internationally across a wide variety of sectors and infrastructure asset classes.

Jennette Newman is a Partner at Clyde & Co and is an experienced Casualty and International Casualty lawyer including regulatory investigations, coverage and monitoring advice as well as claims defence and litigation. She advises and supports businesses, insurers and reinsurers on all aspects of claims, investigations and litigation, mediation and ADR. Her regulatory practice extends to boardroom advice as well as corporates and other duty holders.
