managing disrepair webinar

Social landlords have seen a resurgence in housing disrepair claims and The Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 20181 has potentially broadened the scope of claims arising from the condition of let property. The webinar will consider how to manage disrepair and cover the key issues that housing associations face. The session will look at how to prepare effectively and include useful tips to help mitigate losses and practical advice on how to respond.

Joe was previously Managing Director of Gallagher Housing before becoming Chairman in October 2019. Joe’s wide experience within the Insurance sector spans over 40 years across and he qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII) in 1977. In the early part of his career, Joe provided advice to many clients and managed teams focused on a number of industry sectors. However, since 1995 Joe has specialised in the wider public sector with particular emphasis on social housing.

Matthew is a partner who leads BLM’s Social Housing practice group who work across a range of diverse legal areas supporting local authority and other registered social landlords. He has worked with social housing providers for over 15 years’ as well as acting for their insurers and brokers.

Matthew has a specialist interest in claims arising from issues relating to landlords repairing obligations, which he has acquired through his experience in managing housing disrepair claims, as well as property damage and injury claims where the property allegedly being out of repair is said to have caused the loss.

This webinar is aimed at all Housing Associations and will run from 10.00 – 10.45am.
