Gallagher launches the Gallagher Leaders Scrum to help UK business leaders make the right call

Gallagher has announced applications are now open to join its inaugural Gallagher Leaders Scrum: an initiative being launched in partnership with Premiership Rugby to help business leaders in the UK make the right decision on taking risks at the right time for their business.

The Gallagher Leaders Scrum will bring together eight leaders from varying business sectors and sizes who have a proven track record of making big calls to protect and grow their company. Once chosen, the successful applicants will be given opportunities to network with like-minded individuals and receive specialist coaching from a panel of some of the UK’s leading decision makers.

Gallagher’s specialist panel is a group of renowned business authorities consisting of serial entrepreneur and former panellist on the hit TV series Dragon’s Den, James Caan CBE, best-selling author and High Performance Podcast co-host, Damian Hughes, and Leicester Tigers CEO, Andrea Pinchen.

The mentoring scheme will enable Leaders Scrum members to attend a live Q&A event with the specialist panel, receive one-on-one mentoring from Damian Hughes, and a networking dinner with Hughes and Andrea Pinchen. Further benefits for Gallagher Leaders Scrum members include hospitality tickets to the 2023 Gallagher Premiership Rugby final, marketing support, tickets to an additional Gallagher Premiership Rugby match and a visit to their business from a Gallagher Premiership Rugby club’s Director of Rugby.

Unsuccessful applicants for the Gallagher Leaders Scrum are still eligible for a selection of rewards, including the option to request a free risk analysis consultation with Gallagher for their business and access to an online webinar with members of the specialist panel. Those who request the free consultation will also be entered into a draw to win one of five pairs of tickets for the Gallagher Premiership Final at Twickenham on Saturday 27 May 2023.

James Caan CBE, commented: “Making the right call in high-pressure situations is a skill that can make or break a business. I’m really looking forward to working with members of the Gallagher Leaders Scrum to help them cultivate this talent through my own expertise and career learnings.”

Michael Rea, CEO of Gallagher’s Retail Division, UK & Ireland, said: “Launching the Gallagher Leaders Scrum demonstrates our ongoing commitment to helping businesses make the right call and enabling them to take the right calculated risks to help their business succeed. The difficult trading environment that businesses have had to deal with over the last few years has clearly led to many leaders having to make big decisions, so this is a really timely initiative. We believe this collaboration with our partners at Premiership Rugby and our unique blend of perspectives on decision-making will add genuine value for our Leaders Scrum members.”

Mark Brittain, chief commercial officer at Premiership Rugby said: “We are proud to be supporting Gallagher in its goal to help businesses make the right call, more often, through the Gallagher Leaders Scrum initiative. Making big calls is a skill that is fundamental to success in our game, and we are confident that the lessons learnt from performing in the high-pressure environment of elite rugby union can be translated into helping business leaders succeed.”

To be part of the Gallagher Leaders Scrum, applicants will need to provide background on the company they represent, including the challenges they currently face, whilst providing examples of situations in which they have made had to make a big call and how it paid off for their business. The winners will be announced on 14 March 2023.
