Our task: Walking Back to Happiness!
Few if any people can genuinely say that time away from the desk is not a worthwhile exercise. At Gallagher we are keen to support anything which helps colleagues maintain a healthy work life balance and encourage all to take time during the day to step away from the screen and do something a little more invigorating .
The Public Sector, Education and Community team have taken this literally and during the month of March are “going for a walk”. Simply put, some of our team will leave their desk at convenient point during the day and go for a brisk walk around the block, over the fields or wherever they can get some fresh air. To give the activity additional purpose the PSE Proclaimers as they like to be called, will be adding up their mileage and are looking to see how many times collectively they can walk between our 4 offices located Manchester, Swindon, Guildford and Southampton during the month.
At the time of writing the PSE Proclaimers have covered over 1000 miles and are aiming to raise well over £1000 for Charity. Gallagher runs a long-standing programme ‘Gallagher Gives Back’ which supports communities and charities at a local and national level. This initiative includes a community fund where employees are encouraged to nominate local organisations for funding, volunteering days and a matched giving scheme which will match our PSE Proclaimers fundraising. In this case the team has decided to donate the funds they raise MIND, Cancer Research UK and Tamworth Wellbeing And Cancer Support Centre.
